Better Than Wallpaper - Easier Too
Choked Up Just Reading This
The richest woman in the U.K. and Harry Potter author just posted this on her official website:
"Charles Dickens put it better than I ever could:
'It would concern the reader little, perhaps, to know how sorrowfully the pen is laid down at the close of a two-years' imaginative task; or how an Author feels as if he were dismissing some portion of himself into the shadowy world, when a crowd of the creatures of his brain are going from him for ever.'
To which I can only sigh, try seventeen years, Charles...
I always knew that Harry's story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be. Even while I'm mourning, though, I feel an incredible sense of achievement. I can hardly believe that I've finally written the ending I've been planning for so many years. I've never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric.
Some of you have expressed a (much more muted!) mixture of happiness and sadness at the prospect of the last book being published, and that has meant more than I can tell you. If it comes as any consolation, I think that there will be plenty to continue arguing and speculating about, even after 'Deathly Hallows' comes out. So if you're not yet ready to quit the message boards, do not despair...
I'm almost scared to admit this, but one thing has stopped me collapsing in a puddle of misery on the floor. While each of the previous Potter books has strong claims on my affections, 'Deathly Hallows' is my favourite, and that is the most wonderful way to finish the series.
Thanks to PerezHilton for the link and the post.

Bill and I are in the middle of re-organizing, and re-decorating our bedroom. In the process we have been throwing away a ton of crap. Things that I can't believe we ever kept in the first place. It has been a fun and rewarding process. Our closets are finally organized! Sometimes I just sit and stare in awe at the site of our shirts, pants, sweaters and shoes stacked, hung, folded and sorted neatly in the closet. I am still putting the final touches on the room and have discovered that we are in desperate need of items for the walls. Right now we have only one very ordinary picture hung so I have been shopping for artwork. It has been so much fun. I have come across some pretty amazing art in the process. While not really a fit for our bedroom (or our budget), I think that Jonathan Weiner’s work is truly beautiful.
If you're interested, you can find other great art, shopping and fun sites under the links section at Momomoogie.

No Andrea, We Did Not Renew Our Vows
My friend emailed this video to me today with the subject line asking "Did you and Bill renew your vows recently?" Would someone please tell me this video is fake. That these girls are acting. If not, I am so freaked out by this video I can't even begin to explain.

This Is The Year To Volunteer At Sundance
In all fairness?
''ZOO' is neither graphic nor exploitive'...
In case that's not enough, there's more...
Dakota Fanning, Naked and Raped - All in the sacred name of art ...
I guess this is where I sit back and wait to see if all the "brilliant" people consider these movies a work of art.
I'll let you know.

Bloody Hell
The last Harry Potter book is going to be released this year. This shirt absolutely confirms that I am right about what's going to happen.
If you haven’t read all six books, I suggest you start now. You may be able to finish in time.

These Moments Are Golden
"Sometimes awards shows make us weep a little, laugh a little, or sleep a little. And then there are moments that just make us cringe, a lot.Last night's Golden Globes was no exception. Long after Ryan Seacrest's thoroughly wince-inducing stand-up with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Warren Beatty made us wince with a deeply awkward (and incorrect) "Borat" impression. Best TV Comedy Actress winner, America Ferrara, positively made us gnash our soup dumplings when she exited the stage after her touching acceptance speech and waited like a glowingly expectant puppy to be interviewed by NBC's Maria Menounos. And waited. And waited. And then had to run offstage, ignored by the blathering Ms. M. Such indignity! Then, as Prince was a no-show to accept his award for best song, Justin Timberlake waited for his Petite Purple Majesty to come and collect his trophy, then saved the cringe-worthy moment by making himself a foot shorter and accepting on Prince's behalf."
And finally, I wanted to share this from the show last night which hopefuly helps you forget about all the uncomfortable moments. It may also make you forget that it is a sin to lust after another man.

Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion - Upset Stomach, Diarrhea
It only took about 5 minutes, and he was rushing to the bathroom to throw up the ibuprofen and orange juice I had just given him. This is only the third time in his 11 1/2 years that he has been throwing-up sick.
As I sat there with him through the dry heaves and the crying, I tried to figure out why he might be this sick. Then it hit me. Alex had just returned from spending a week back home with his grandparents. Grandparents who spoil him rotten!
The car load of toys/"Christmas Presents" that we brought back with us made ME want to throw up. I told Bill that the number of toys we have in the back of our car, might be comparable to the number of toys that some kids have in their lifetime. Because the word "no" obviously disappears from their vocabulary while he is there, Alex is allowed to eat and drink pretty much whatever he wants. Following is a list of food items that he consumed in mass quantity (maybe even as a meal) within the last week:
Chocolate ice cream
Chocolate Riesen
Chocolate chip cookies
Chocolate cake
Chocolate covered pretzels
Chocolate licorice
Red licorice
Jr. Mints
Popcorn
Caramel popcorn
Oreo's
Peanut M&M's
Regular M&M's
Peanut brittle
Spicy gum drops
Did I mention Chocolate?
Good -N- Plenty's
Gummy Worms
Sour Patch Kids
Rice Crispy Bars
Taco Doritos
Bugles
Cheetos
Chedder Fries
Chex Mix
Mountain Dew
Mountain Dew Full Throttle
And maybe the worst item of all. Something that Bill and I agreed we would never allow him to eat (we even shook on it). The Chili Cheese Thick Burger from Hardee's. I can't believe someone who loves Alex would allow him to eat this:
The fact that he was throwing up totally made sense!

Talk About MUST SEE TV

And your musical guest...
Oh My God Angie!!!
As I am Google searching for images of Jake Gyllenhaal to use in the previous post, I came across this photo which seemed vaguely familiar. Then it dawned on me. My friend Angie and I were standing about 10 feet from the spot where this was taken, at the moment it was taken. We both think this girl is a tramp. And her mother is a whore. And her grandma, well, she might be nice.

He Used The Word Gallantly, Correctly!
Alex saw this picture and caption on a news web-site today and asked me what it was. I told him it was a picture of a bacteria called E-Coli and that they had found it in some of the onions at Taco Bell restaurants on the east coast. He asked if E-Coli were dangerous. I told him most of the time people just get really sick.
He said he was no longer going to eat at Taco Bell. That they would probably go out of business because of this. And finally he told me this:

Dear Patty Griffin:
Your Friend,
S
Many of you have heard me say this before but if you don't mind, I am going to say it again. I am absolutely in love with Patty Griffin’s music. I discovered her almost two year's ago and am so glad I did. Every time I listen to one of her songs, I feel like someone just gave me a present. If I had to choose only one artist to listen to for the rest of my life it would be her. If you have a chance, please check her out.
Current Patty songs on my iPod:
Nobody’s Crying
Dear Old Friend
When It Don’t Come Easy
Forgiveness
Let Him Fly
Top Of The World
Long Ride Home
Be Careful
Rain
If you don't beleive me, have a look at what others who have purchased her music on iTunes have had to say:
About Patty Griffin’s album 1000 Kisses:
"I recently got an iPod and stumbled upon Patty. I downloaded this album. By the time I was in the middle of the third song I had purchased all of her CD’s. I couldn’t stop listening to her that night and still can’t, after several months. She is simply one of the greatest talents I have ever heard. Fantastic songwriter (she was #19 on the NPR greatest living songwriters after only 3 studio albums, how is that possible?) and a voice that has a certain quality to it that you literally hear once in a lifetime. I’m not talking about range, etc. she just brings you deeply into the world’s of her characters. Emotionally involved. The only singer I can even remember hearing who did that as well as Patty was Billy Holiday. Do you think I love her? At first listen."
"Patty Griffin has an innate ability to pour the essence of “The Common Man/Woman”…the pain, the joy, the doubt, the hopes, the fears, the endurance, the uncertainty…into her songs. She simply IS folk music, and this album is a perfect demonstration of that."
About Patty Griffin’s album Impossible Dreams:
"This record is a little masterpiece that can make you ache in the loveliest way imaginable. Patty Griffin brings you with her to unexpected, dark, quiet places in her songs. She writes lyrics and melodies that you can’t imagine never existed before she wrote them. Many artists cover them but only she can do them justice."
"The amazing thing about music, if done well, is it speaks to your soul. Let me tell you, this album speaks volumes. Each song is haunting—moving, artistic lyrics—perfectly matched instrumentation and rhythms—and powerful beautifully executed vocals."
"If I lived a hundred lifetimes, I could never create anything so poignant and beautiful as this album. Patty Griffin has woven a tapestry of rich, wonderfully textured, yet simple music. It is a deeply personal and almost unbearably intimate experience to listen to her so artfully and honestly pour out her soul. This is an album to listen to when you’re driving in your car, alone at night, or playing through your iPod as you lie in your bed."
If you take the time to listen to her music, I would love to hear what you think.
